The Check for Sleeping Children School Bus Sticker is a highly visible driver reminder designed to reinforce one of the most important procedures carried out at the completion of a school bus route: checking the passenger compartment to ensure no child remains aboard.

Why School Bus Child-Check Reminders Are Important
Children can fall asleep during a journey or remain unnoticed within the passenger compartment after other passengers have disembarked.
For this reason, post-trip passenger-compartment checks form part of established school bus safety practices.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's School Bus Driver In-Service Safety Series recommends that operators require drivers to conduct a post-trip inspection and specifically suggests making the post-trip inspection checklist into a card mounted in each bus.
School bus operating guidance in other jurisdictions similarly defines a post-trip inspection as an inspection following a journey that includes checking for sleeping children, lost articles, vehicle condition and damage.
Some jurisdictions go further and specifically require school bus drivers to walk through the vehicle at the completion of a route and check the passenger compartment for children. Operators should always follow the legislation, contractual requirements and operating procedures applicable in their own jurisdiction.

This sticker is intended to be positioned where the driver is likely to see it when completing or leaving the vehicle, such as near the driver's dashboard, ignition area, start/stop controls, driver's console or another prominent interior location that does not obstruct controls, instruments or visibility.
