Improve passenger safety and help discourage passengers from standing on seats with Westside Graphics Do Not Stand on Seats ferry safety stickers. Designed for commercial passenger ferries, public transport vessels and marine seating areas, these professional warning decals provide a clear visual instruction to help reduce unsafe climbing behaviour and the risk of falls.

Featuring bold DO NOT STAND ON SEATS lettering, a red prohibition symbol and a pictogram depicting a person standing on a seat, each sticker is manufactured using self-adhesive vinyl with a protective UV laminate overlay.

Available in three sizes and discounted bulk packs for individual vessels, fleet maintenance and large-scale passenger seating installations.

AMSA and NSCV Part C1 – Passenger Ferry Safety Requirements

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV), Part C, Section 1, Edition 2.0, includes specific requirements addressing passengers standing on seating within designated no-climb zones on public transport vessels.

Clause 6.5 – No Climb Zone for Public Transport Vessels addresses the risk of passengers climbing on seating and falling overboard.

Under Table 30, where seating that could be used as a foothold is positioned within a designated no-climb zone, three alternative safety controls are specified:

  • No seating within the designated no-climb zone.

  • Increased handrail, bulwark or guardrail height in accordance with Annex C.

  • Warning signage stating “do not stand on seats”, meeting the applicable rectangular size requirements of Table B1.

Where the signage option is selected, the standard requires a warning on each affected seat. For seating accommodating multiple passengers, the warning must be clearly legible from all positions from which a passenger could climb.

The designated no-climb zone extends 450 mm inboard from the inner edge of the gunwale, guardrail or bulwark and vertically to the height of that protective structure above the deck.

These provisions relate specifically to applicable passenger-accessible open-deck arrangements. They do not mean that every seat on every commercial vessel must carry this warning.

Available Sticker Sizes and Letter Heights

150 × 80 mm – 15 mm lettering

A compact warning decal for smaller seating panels, general passenger safety marking and applications where the operator determines that the size is appropriate.

220 × 90 mm – 18 mm lettering

A medium-size passenger seat warning sticker offering increased visibility for ferry seating areas and general marine safety applications.

300 × 150 mm – 25 mm lettering

Our largest standard version, providing prominent warning text and a high-contrast prohibition pictogram. Suitable for larger seat backs, passenger seating panels and fleet installations requiring the 300 × 150 mm format.

Important dimensional information: NSCV Part C1 Table B1 specifies minimum rectangular dimensions of 150 × 80 mm for vessels under 12 metres and 300 × 150 mm for vessels from 12 metres to under 24 metres. The 300 × 150 mm version matches the latter dimensional minimum, while the 150 × 80 mm version matches the former.

The 220 × 90 mm version is offered as an additional general-purpose warning size. Meeting a minimum dimension does not independently establish full regulatory compliance. Operators must confirm all applicable signage, visibility, design and installation requirements for their vessel.

Premium Vinyl with Protective UV Laminate

Each sticker is produced using printed self-adhesive vinyl (SAV) with a protective UV laminate overlay.

Product features include:

  • Clear red, black and white passenger safety warning.

  • Bold lettering and easily recognisable prohibition pictogram.

  • Protective laminate to help resist surface wear and UV-related fading.

  • Self-adhesive backing for compatible, properly prepared smooth surfaces.

  • Consistent appearance across multiple passenger seats and vessels.

  • Suitable for selected indoor and sheltered marine seating applications, subject to surface and environmental suitability.

For exposed marine installations, operators should assess adhesion, cleaning chemicals, saltwater exposure, weathering and expected service life before use.

Passenger Ferry and Commercial Marine Applications

These Do Not Stand on Seats stickers are intended for passenger transport and marine safety applications, including:

  • Public transport ferries and commuter ferry services.

  • Passenger ferry seating and open-deck seating areas.

  • Harbour ferries and sightseeing vessels.

Bulk Packs and Fleet Purchasing

Available in packs of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, 100 and 250 stickers.

Quantity discounts are included in the selected pack price, making larger orders suitable for operators maintaining multiple passenger vessels or fitting out extensive seating areas.

All three sizes are available in standard printed self-adhesive vinyl with protective UV laminate. Custom dimensions and fleet-specific warning decals may be available on request.
